A JEM 250 model glamourized and costing more

Not as big interior wise as our old JEM250 model.( though basically the same outside dimension.. lol)This old JEM was cheaper, codes on front were MORE visible and cord placement was such that appliance did not stick out further as far as depth. Now, I have an appliance that says GE Profile but otherwise no notable features.

This is the third GE Profile microwave that I've bought. The microwave is good, so far. The problems are, that the mounting pattern on the top of the unit, where it hangs from the cabinet is different than the first 2 Profile's that I've purchased. The mounting holes are not concentric or square to each other and to the unit. So be prepared to redrill the holes thru the cabinet. It won't be a "plug and play" installation. Another issue is the turn table plate is smaller than the previous Profile's that we've had. The price is another factor that made me almost not buy this one. Otherwise I would have rated it higher.

This is the 3rd or 4th microwave of this Spacemaker style we have purchased. It functions well and looks good. My one recommendation is to make it a little more powerful with an increased wattage.

While the updated Spacesaver II, now Profile performs as well as my 1997 model that just gave up the ghost , also 800 watts,.There are a few more bells and whistles, such as a turntable, lock outs, and WiFi (why?).At least the turntable that is only 10 inches will disengage so a casserole, or other oblong cookware can be used. My great disappointment is in the general quality of the cabinet structure.. It is a tin can compared to my solid original, so loud door closure and motor noise. The front surface is super fingerprint and scratch prone and the touch pad takes a bit of effort to engage. There is only one microwave made with the dimensions of the Profile, so why not have a top-notch product?

Great microwave. However The contrast of color (barely light grey) on the labeled buttons against black background makes it barely readable. I have to squint or put my glasses on, whereas the previous microwave and my present GE oven, the letters are in bright white against a black background which makes it clear and readable. Engineers, pls keep this minor detail in mind. Thanks

Display panel hard to see

We ordered and received an all-black microwave without seeing one on the display floor. When we tried using it, we found the display panel hard to use in regular lighting and could not use it in dim lighting. We used a flashlight to see the numbers/layout. The numbers and characters are in grey against a black background. I had to re-create the layout on a paper and attach it to the front of the panel. Now we are able to use the microwave at all times. I don't think the designers thought this out. I looked at other microwaves in the store and many if not all had white lettering whereas the one we purchased had grey or dark grey lettering. Other than that, the microwave works fine.

This microwave was sold to me as a space saving countertop microwave at National Appliance Warehouse. The cord jets out 3 inches in the back making it impossible to push against backsplash. The top is unfinished better for under mount install. They wouldn™™t let me return this. It cost me $400. It is sitting in the box it came in. False advertising. It is not space saving or countertop ready visually.

This microwave works well. Replaced a 30+ year old Sears Kenmore microwave oven. I wish the control button labels were a little brighter. I have a small over-the-counter shelf space for the micro and this was the only unit I could find that had the exact same dimensions as my old unit. The Wi-Fi option looks interesting but I haven't tried it yet.

Issue with under-cabinet mounting hardware

I rated the new appliance based on the 13 year life of the older model. The 1 issue I had was with the under-cabinet mounting kit JXA019K recommended for the new model. First, there were NO templates enclosed in the packet. Second, the metal brackets supplied did not have their holes that would match the mounting holes on the new microwave. A total waste of $50.00!!
