My Opal cost me $465.44 on 11/22/22. I did my regular cleaning. We needed the ice badly with a cancer and heart patient in the home. It lasted a couple of years. The noise of the machine keep me up at night. Then the ice came out melted. After cleaning the last time it lasted one day. Its a shame. Now at your regular cheap retail stores you can buy one easier and quieter for only avg $89.guaranteed. I could have bought 4 of those and now this big thing is just setting there. Can I trade in for a new dryer? You know a GE dryer for $465. could last 10 or 12 years with maintenance!

This is the 3rd Opal ice maker we have had. First one started this god awful screech about 1 month. I called customer service and I had to send video upon video so they could hear it. I finally was able to get a new one shipped to me. Within 2 months the 2nd one started doing the exact same thing. So again I called and was told they are out of stock. After 6 months I called and said something has got to give. So they sent the upgraded model, only thing it had extra was Bluetooth. Fast forward about 1 year and now the 3rd one is doing the same thing but worse. Not only does it sound this awful awful screech but it also does this knocking. It™™s so loud that we have to run and unplug it. That happens at least once a day. I love the ice it makes but there is obviously a manufacturing flaw for me to get 3 different makers that all do the same thing. For what I paid for this it should last longer than a year and a half. Looks like I get to buy a new one from a new company. I™™ll never buy GE again.

I ordered this & it was delivered today. I opened the box & the solution & cleaning cloth had just been thrown in the box. They weren™™t in a product package. The solution had leaked all over the box, causing a mess on my floor. This went straight into the trash can!

We love this product but after. Few months there is some mildew building up in the bottom reservoir. Is there a filter to change as the filter is also quite moldy.

We've owned the Opal 1.0 for 2 years now and really love it. However, my wife saw a video on how mold builds up inside the unit. We opened the inner water reservoir and found it disgusting. Will this cleaning kit take care of the problem? Or do we have bigger issues?

We are having trouble with our ice machine. When we first purchased the machine the ice made in 30 minutes no problem, now in 30 mins we don't have enough ice to fill one cup. We just cleaned the machine to see if that would help. Let me know if there is something we are missing.

I have been using the icemaker for over 6 months. This helped get rid of mineral build up and keep the machine functioning properly and ice production up. I wish the bottles were bigger. Maybe a bulk size

There is definitely a noticeable difference after using the cleaning kit. It was also a good value for the price. It's easy to use and works great. Glad there is a lot rather than trying to get creative with cleaning.

When I got my Opal Ice Maker, I didn't really know what sort of upkeep would be involved and I love that the brand offers a kit so you know you are doing it right. I don't want to break my beloved ice machine! This includes everything you need including the cleaning solution, a sponge (which is super cool because it comes looking like a thin piece of cardboard and when you wet it it immediately expands into a normal sponge!), cotton swabs, a cleaning cloth, and very clear directions written out with helpful illustrations. While the process of cleaning the machine is involved and a little tedious (one step involves leaving the solution soaked sponge in the ice tray for at least 18 hours!), this took out all the guess work and made it as easy as possible.

There are clear directions and even a video on line. it seems to really address the mineral deposit isues that can occur when your water is not of the best quality. I was personally nervous about using any product that has danger warnings for causing skin irritation and eye damge especially if it is going in something that I will be consuming ice from. I never realized how dirty an ice machine could get. I followed the suggested cleaning ideas in the manual, but this cleaner brings it to another level. It does take a few steps and consumes a bit of time, but the results are worth it. The amount of scale I had come out was baffling. I never realized how much accumulation you could get. Absolutely worth getting again.

my Opal Ice Maker as a gift for me, it has become monumental in keeping me hydrated in the Texas heat! So when it was time to clean the mineral deposits we followed the directions and it worked great the first 2 times. Then it didn't and I got on Amazon for cleaning options and this was what I found. Ice production is as good as the day we got it. so from now on we'll be using this to clean our machine! Since I use my Ice machine 24/7 it gets lots of built up so this de scalier and cleaner was the best. Make sure you watch the cleaning video on the website. Ice maker was making a screeching noise but after using this and following the directions it has stopped the noise and works great. love this machine and will gladly pay a little more to buy this product for my ice maker.

Easy to use. Took me an hour total to clean (got distracted). Simple set up and instructions were easy to follow and now my ice maker is super squeaky clean! the only way I've ever cleaned in the past was by hand and this is way more sanitary.

This works perfectly to clean my ice nugget machine. The solution bottles are small and easy to store for another use. I use it monthly or even less depending on how much I use my ice nugget machine so the solution can last a long time.
