Easy to install. Directions are clear. I just installed it, but it is relatively quiet and seems to do a great job. Small footprint, and all the pieces I needed were in the box. I am replacing my old GE disposAll that lasted 20 years.

I've gone through 2 of these in almost 8 years! We've lived in our house for 7 1/2 years. The first one was installed by the builder and lasted about 3 years until the motor died. I replaced with the same model because it was the easiest option to reinstall. This one lasted until last week when the blades jammed and sheared off the center bolt they spin around! We're not putting bones or dense foods down there. Of course the warranty on this model is only 2 years. They want you to have to buy another! I'm not going to even let you get a 3rd strike GE. Done!

Seized twice after very light use within 1st year

Had this installed in our new home with septic system. Very light use perhaps once every couple of weeks for 2-3 people. When it runs its seems efficient and quiet, however it has frozen up twice within the past year. First time we couldn™€™t get the motor to turn using recommended methods and reviewed some YouTube videos. Hired a plumber who was surprised to learn there isn™€™t way to try to manually turn it (like other disposals) by using a hex wrench. Plumber ended up taking the unit apart the first time to get it to turn and reinstalled until 2 months later it™€™s frozen up again. Appears to be rust in the disposal. We™€™re about 14 months into a new home (past warranty) and this is the only item which has failed us - twice.

One big failing.

I have just replaced the 2nd of the GFC520V series Garbage DisposAll units. They worked fine for about 3 years, and both have failed the same way. The cutters let loose because of wear and tear on them and the rivets that hold them in place. I have replaced the latest with a GFC520N only because of the ease in swapping it out. (no messing with the mounting hardware). Maybe the cutters and rivets should be of a harder wearing material

Because this model matched my previous model, the install went smoothly, except for the electric code. I should have purchased the same model with the cord attached. Fortunately, I was able to remove the old cord and attach it to the new model. But, if I had purchased the model with the cord, I would have finished the job in less than 1/2 hour. So, buy the same model with the cord attached. It will save you a lot of time.

nice disposal, easy to install, i just wish we could manufacture this stuff in the U.S., the flange that sat in the sink had a casting flaw which caused a leak, even after carefully sanding out the flaw, i still had to put plumbers putty under flange. it didn't look built as well as the 520f i installed 18 years ago.

However, a little after two years it started leaking from the bottom (through the nut that holds the bottom cover in place). It seems like an internal gasket or seal failed. This disposal was not used heavily, so I was very disappointed that it failed so soon. But I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt and replaced it with the same disposal to avoid disturbing the pipe work. Will see how the new one turns out.
