It has so much potential, but the flaws are real

We ordered this induction stove in 2021 and waited more than one year to receive it in 2022. We've had it for less than 4 years now, and I regret the purchase. Would not recommend this to anyone. The positives: it's an attractive appliance; having 2 ovens is convenient; and I like the induction function. The NEGATIVES: The induction cooktop malfunctions all the time and randomly just turns off (and yes, my cookware is magnetic cast iron or stainless steel, and yes, the cookware is centered over the appropriately sized burner). The control panel also goes haywire whenever we open the top oven, as if the heat from the top oven just fries the control board. This is simply poor design. This induction cooktop and oven cost a lot more than similar appliances. For the hefty price we paid, I expected something with reliable functionality and certainly something that could last for more than 4 years. Very disappointing. Best to spend your dollars elsewhere.

No, I do not recommend this product

Junk for such a high priced oven

The induction cooktop was a huge disappointment. Only 2 of the 5 burners worked properly, while the other three would never heat beyond a low to medium setting. Over the course of five service visits, the technician repeatedly blamed different components, but the issue was never fully resolved. After months of frustration, I finally gave up and vowed never to purchase another GE CafÃ appliance. Beware of this product. If it works its great but it is terrible with regards to reliability. The original motherboard lasted from May 2022 to May of 2024 (just out of warranty - $1,800 to replace) and now the second motherboard has stopped working (June 2026). For a $4.5k appliance we would expect at least 5 years of reliability. With a 2nd replacement board we will be into range $8,100 in under 5 years.

I would strongly advise against purchasing this range if you cook frequently or consider yourself a serious home cook. The right front burner labeled ™Power Boil™ runs far too hot™"even on the lowest setting. It makes basic cooking tasks like sautÃing nearly impossible because food burns consistently. Unfortunately, this is also the primary burner for larger pans, which makes the issue even more frustrating since it™™s the one you naturally use most often. I™™ve had service technicians out three separate times and have had controls and elements replaced, but nothing has resolved the issue. On the final visit, the technician ran diagnostics and even contacted the manufacturer, who confirmed that the burner running hot is actually ™by design.™ In other words, there is no fix. As it stands, this burner is only useful for boiling water or simmering large pots™"anything else results in burned food. That™™s simply not acceptable for a product in this price range. I™™m extremely disappointed. I paid more expecting higher quality, but instead ended up with a cooktop that performs worse than much more affordable options. While the range may look nice, the functionality does not match the price. I would only recommend this product if you primarily bake and don™™t rely on the stovetop. Extremely disappointed with our CafÃ induction double oven and the accompanying customer service. The stainless-steel strip along the top front scratches extremely easily with normal use. In addition, the exterior is difficult to keep clean™"fingerprints and water stains show constantly and do not wipe off easily. Even using appropriate cleaners and microfiber cloths, the finish still looks smudged and streaked. More concerning, after only 3 months of use of the induction burner unit began smoking from within the stove and produced a strong, unpleasant toxic odor. The smell lingered for days afterward and was difficult to eliminate, which was alarming and raised serious concerns about the quality and safety of the appliance. What made the situation worse was the customer service experience™"slow responses, poor communication, and no sense of urgency to resolve the problem. A service technician was sent out, and when he turned on the stove he experienced the same issue™"the house filled with smoke, and he stated that it made him feel unwell. Something inside the stove was burning/melting. The technician indicated that the oven should be replaced. The technician sent multiple emails clearly stating that we did not agree to a repair and that replacement was recommended. However, Juan the customer service representative for GE later told the technician that we had accepted a repair, which was not true and directly contradicted what had been communicated to GE. Despite this, GE refused to replace the unit. We were told by the customer service representative, Juan, that we either had to accept a repair or continue using the oven as is, which was unusable due to the toxic smoke when in use, the toxic smell that permeated our house, and the obvious fire hazard. We did not feel we had a real choice. The part in the stove that was melting has now been replaced and will hopefully last more than 3 months. The oven still emits a lingering odor when the fan runs, and we can only hope it fades with time. For a product marketed as high end, the quality of the materials, the performance, and the customer service have been unacceptable. I would not recommend this oven or this brand. I will never purchase another appliance made by GE.

Secondly, when you set the cook time there is absolutely no way to see it on your range. You have no idea how much time is left on your timer. This seems like a very basic function that is severely lacking. If I could return it, I would.

I love the double oven- so versatile when needing to cook multiple items at different temperatures. The top oven heats up quickly for most needs & the bottom oven fits a large dutch oven with a rack removed. I like that you can customize the bottom oven for a variety of needs from convection to bake to air fry. Note about accessibility: the bottom oven is quite low to the ground & can make removing items difficult for some. Induction takes some getting used to, so be prepared for that. Some pots heat faster, some make more noise, it's a learning experience. Note: several of my pot/pans that weren't supposed to work with induction actually do, including my wok & griddle without flat bottoms. Clean up on the smooth surface is a breeze- something I didn't think really cared about until I no longer had to scrub gas burners.

We got the Cafe' induction range because we have GE Cafe' line appliances in our other home. We were originally going to go with dual fuel (propane + electric range) but since we were replacing an electric range and there were logistic challenges with running new propane, we went with the induction. We've had to replace a few of our pans but most work on the induction cooktop. We're also using more of our Le Creuset and cast iron pans since they work perfectly with the induction. Pans heat very quickly on the cooktop which is going to take time getting used to. Water boils in a few minutes and a cast iron pan is sear ready almost instantly. Heating control is very precise and there is very little heat generated by the burners so the cooktop cools very quickly once the pan is removed. Oven gets to temperature quickly and even alerts you in an app when the oven is preheated. We've used both ovens individually so far but we can really see the benefit of having the dual ovens.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!! This oven was installed on April 16. The ovens work great, but on April 18, the cooktop abruptly stopped working while I was using it. I called customer service, and a technician came to check it out several days later. He didn't have any parts, so he ordered the parts, which arrived at my home a few days later. A week after he had first come out, he came back to install the parts. At this point, I had been without my cooktop for almost 2 weeks. The stovetop stopped working again that same evening. I called again. The woman at the call center scheduled another service call for the next day or 2. The technician called me and said he couldn't come then because he didn't have the part, and it would be another week. The part arrived at my house a few days later, and the technician arrived a few days after that to install the part. That was on May 9, THREE WEEKS after the stovetop stopped working. The technician was unable to fix the stovetop because GE had sent the WRONG PART to my house. The technician told me to expect someone from GE to call in the next 2-3 business days to discuss what would happen next. NO ONE CALLED. I finally called GE, and was told they wouldn't do anything other than try to replace the part that hadn't been replaced because the "engineers" (not the tech that came to my house) said that needed to be done before they would replace the unit. Engineers who never came to my house to look at my stovetop are making decisions about whether or not I get to have a working stove top. We are now over ONE MONTH without a working stovetop, and GE wants me to wait until they can get the part and get the tech out here to replace it. I spoke to a supervisor, and he absolutely did not care that I haven't had a working stove top for over a month. Just kept telling me this is how they do it, and they won't do anything else. This stovetop is a piece of garbage, and GE customer service is atrocious. Not only do I not recommend this product, I recommend no one ever buy anything from GE.

Induction technology is "not ready for primetime". You are limited to using specific cookwear built for induction, but even some of these brands do not work with GE Cafe series. They make a loud, high-pitch piercing sound. Also, you are limited to having to use an exact match of the pan size to the heating element or else the cookwear will not heat properly. For example, if you put an 8" pot to boil on the 11" element, the water will never truly come to a rapid boil. You will get simmering at best. The GE-authorized repair person told me that you need to use the same size cookwear or a little larger to the element size to get full heat. At least with radiant elements, you get full heat for the burners you activate, or with gas you get constant heat. It is too late for us as we cannot return the oven/range, but word to the wise that this is not your best option.

Two weeks using and loving it! Since a review should really have at least 6 months of experience behind it, here™™s a few comments: Ovens: love the double ovens. Have used both quite a bit. And at the same time. Heat quickly. Better insulated than my old stove, so the outside stays cooler. Display: bright and clear for oven controls, very dim for other more variable messages such as temperature setting. Timer alarm: What alarm? Ridiculous low volume. Cannot be heard over boiling water. Cooktop: Love it. Still getting use to the proper settings for the food I cook. Cannot comment on evenness since I don™™t have enough experience. There is a learning curve with induction, but it provides vastly superior controllability than gas. Each burner can go from raging hot to total simmer. Noise: Mostly none with one pot. With two or three, sometimes a noticeable (and annoying) noise can be heard. The noise is dependent on the pots and the heat settings. I™™ve found that diddling slightly with the heat settings can change the noise. Knobs: Yes!! We had stayed in an apartment that had an induction knobless-cooktop. The display was pressure sensitive and built into top itself. Loved the induction, but really missed knobs. Looks: Beautiful. Getting lots of comments on how great it looks.

I knew I wanted a double oven with an induction cooktop and there weren™™t many options out there so I chose the cafe because it had the look I was going for. The price was a splurge for me but SO very worth it. In our last double oven range, the top oven would burn things easily so we always had to turn the temp down. We don™™t have to do that with this one. It bakes so well and evenly, especially using the convection setting on the lower oven. The induction top is so quick to respond when you change the heat setting™¦ reminds me of gas. If something is about to boil over you just turn the heat down and boom, the boiling goes right down unlike electric tops. Of course there™™s the faint clicking and high-pitched ringing sound that you get sometimes with all induction stovetops but it™™s never bothered me. Overall super happy with my range!

I love induction cooking! I love also the ease in clean up! Having the bridge feature on the left 2 burners is great for my larger pans and griddle. Plus all the burners are auto sizing!! I don™™t have to worry about having to wonder if a small dimension pan will work on the large burner. This was very important to me. The double ovens are perfect for the two of us. When it™™s just my husband and I I don™™t need to heat a big oven. The top oven is not convection. Only the bottom oven is. I™™m always cooking so this oven set up is perfect for me.

We loved this stove for the 1.5 years it worked. Now the range does not work at all thanks to a controller that needs to be replaced. However warranty was only one year. We signed up for extended coverage with Assurant, but when someone came out they said they would need to order the part. A week later we received a message saying that servicer does not service induction stoves and a different company would need to help. The new company said a part would be shipped on the 4th of December, but just before that date we received an update that said the part was on backorder and there was no estimate on how long it would take to receive it. It's nearly Christmas and we have not had a working stove since before Thanksgiving. We are using a camping stove to prepare meals. Up until it stopped working I would have given this range 5 stars.

Highly functional oven, amazing induction cooktop

I've had this oven for a couple weeks now and have since baked bread and cookies, broiled chicken, baked a roast in a Dutch oven, and used the cook top several times a day for everything from rice to deep fried pork cutlets. The ovens heat up quickly, and cook evenly and accurately. I've even used the proof function on the lower oven for my bread, and it worked beautifully. The induction cook top is the biggest change for us, and it's been such a joy getting to know this technology. The ease of use, and granular control it affords makes cooking so easy. Temperature changes happen almost instantly, and it's possible to switch from a simmer to boil and back again almost at a thought. When cooking eggs, you can just turn the burner off when they're done, and the cooking process ceases almost instantly. I don't know where this technology has been all my life but I love it! Another bonus is how easy it is to clean, as you don't have food burning onto the stove since the pan itself is the only part that gets hot. Total game changer.

We ordered this stove, and due to Covid delays, it was a year and a half before it was delivered. Soon after installation we realized the convection fan was not turning. GE took responsibility and reimbursed us for the repair. Fourteen months later the stove top went out. It comes on for a few seconds and then turns off. Many of the appliance companies don't want to touch these things. The company we found ran codes, replaced two boards and it didn't work. They said the boards might have been duds and they would re-order them. It's probably been a week and half now at least and we haven't heard from them. I cook everyday, and I've been using a little, cheap, slow two-burner electric stove on top of the $5000 stove for about a month now. I'd be happy to have my old stove back right now. GE has not been helpful

Only the drawer Microwave CWL112P4R1WS and Wall Chimney Vent Hood CVW73014M1WM included the Owner™™s Manuals. I am very disappointed that the Range CHS950P4M8W2, Refrigerator CVE28DP4NGW2, and Dishwasher CDT875P4NBW2 did not contain the Owner™™s Manuals. For what GE charges for these top-of-the-line appliances, you are cheap not to include them. 2. The induction/convection range CHS950P4M8W2 contained the installation instructions for a Gas, Dual Fuel and Double Oven Gas Ranges. (295D1344P058 Rev 0). 3. The protective wrapping on the exterior of the doors and freezer drawers of the refrigerator CVE28DP4NGW2 is extremely difficult to remove. The ends of the wrap are behind the door seals and therefore cannot be peeled back. Trying to remove the warp can potentially damage the finish or seals
